A Personal Relationship With God

If I have counted correctly the phrase my God appears 139 times in the Bible. We need a DIRECT AND PERSONAL relationship with Him. There is no such thing as an indirect relationship with Him. We do not enter into personal relationship with Him through some lengthy chain of command or hierarchy. He is not a baton relayed from one man to another and then to me. We do not enter into personal relationship with Him through some maze of laws, rituals or traditions. He personally offers Himself to each of us. We must personally receive Him. We cannot enter into relationship with Him on behalf of someone else and no one else can enter into relationship with Him on our behalf.

We need to be told by the Lord Himself through the Holy Spirit that we are His child.

Romans 8:16: The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

Then we can reverently pronounce the words that doubting Thomas did:

John 20:28: And Thomas answered and said unto him, My Lord and my God.

Then we can endearingly call God our father as Jesus did:

Mark 14:36: And he said, Abba, Father, all things are possible unto thee; take away this cup from me: nevertheless not what I will, but what thou wilt.

Galatians 4:6: And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

The only way we can have relationship with God is through Jesus.

John 14:6: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

Detours and short-cuts never lead us to Jesus or to God. Jesus is the DIRECT ROUTE and the ONLY route. Individuals, rituals, laws, ceremonies, churches, etc. cannot be more than sign posts pointing us to Jesus. A sign post is not the way.

1 Timothy 2:5: For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;

Oswald Chambers: I must know Him for myself, and how to get alone with Him; I must take time to worship the Being Whose Name I bear.

Come unto Me . . . that is the place to meet Jesus. Are you weary and heavy laden?

If ye abide in Me, and My words abide in you . . . that is the way to keep going in our personal lives. Where we are placed is a matter of indifference; God engineers the goings.

None of these things move me, neither count I my life dear unto myself. . . . That is how to keep going till we*re gone.
